This year's Spring Weekend 2019 event at Brown University is scheduled for Friday April 26 through Saturday April 27, 2019. Get out and enjoy the warmer temperatures and the great lineup of artists offered near our apartments in Providence, Rhode Island.
Brown is one of nine colonial colleges chartered before the American Revolution. Today, the institution offers a wide range of majors and modern amenities. As quoted from the official website, Brown is a university where "students, faculty, and staff are driven by the idea that their work will have an impact on the world".
Spring Weekend has been a tradition at Brown since its birth in 1950. It's a mini music festival which offers other forms of entertainment also. Featured artists over the years have included Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Bruce Springsteen, and U2, just to mention a few.
The event has historically symbolized freedom in many of its wonderful forms. Freedom from heavy clothing as temperatures warm, freedom of thought, encouraged by the simple act of getting outside in nature to relax. Freedom to develop one's own unique style and means of expression as an innovative artist, designer, musician . . . whatever one's profession or personal pastime.
